For over 50 years, Hugh O’Brian Youth (HOBY) has been known as the country’s top youth leadership development organization.

HOBY Maryland has graduated outstanding young leaders since 1979. Our aim is to empower individuals to make a positive impact in our local and global communities through effective and compassionate leadership. We annually serve more than 200 high school sophomores from across the state of Maryland at our flagship Leadership Seminar.

2025 Maryland Leadership Seminar

June 5-8, 2025 | Towson University, Towson, Maryland

Our state seminar provides students with a forum to broaden their understanding of leadership potential and quest for self development. Guest speakers, panel discussions, professional development, community service projects, and hands-on activities teach students about personal, group, and societal leadership.

HOBY Ambassadors are challenged to return to their communities and perform 100 hours of community service within the next year.

HOBY MD Alumni Association

The mission of the HOBY Maryland Alumni Association is to promote continued educational and leadership opportunities through personal/professional development and hands-on, leadership skill-building activities.

Being part of HOBY’s alumni network offers ongoing opportunities for new connections, growth, and leadership development after HOBY’s leadership seminars.

Volunteer or Donate

Volunteers are the lifeblood of our organization. They make a significant impact on the experience, and lives, of our Ambassadors. While helping to facilitate, our volunteers have the opportunity to participate in the HOBY experience while reevaluating their own life goals with the ambassadors around them.

Each year, our volunteers fundraise the entire amount required to put on our seminar. If you’d like to contribute to our mission, we would be greatly appreciative.
